Here's 3 Reasons Why Shift Workers Never Feel Rested (And What Actually Helps).
Your body clock is out of sync
Your brain has been running the same basic program for thousands of years: alert when it's light, sleepy when it's dark. Working overnight asks you to do the exact opposite. You spend your natural sleep hours awake and on your feet, then try to fall asleep at the time your body is working hardest to keep you up.
That mismatch doesn't go away just because you get used to the schedule. Your internal clock keeps running on its own timing, and it keeps sending signals at the wrong moments. It tells you to wind down halfway through a shift. It tells you to wake up an hour after you finally got into bed. You can be lying there the whole time and still get up feeling like you never properly rested.
Daytime sleep is shorter and more disrupted
If you've tried sleeping through the day, you already know most of this. Sunlight shining through the blinds, Someone's mowing their lawn, a delivery comes, your family wakes up, people walking by your house. None of it wakes you up completely, but the deepest stages of your sleep are interrupted.
That's why daytime sleep so rarely makes you feel actually rested. The clock says seven hours but it feels like closer to four. The whole world around you is awake and getting on with the day, and you're trying to rest in the middle of it.
Your schedule never becomes consistent
Rotating shifts, late night coffees, late night meals. And you still want a life outside of work, so you stay up for the birthday, the games, the night out with friends, the early morning brunch.
Nothing gets set in stone and every week looks a little different from the last one. But our body builds its rhythm out of repetition, it learns when sleep is coming and starts getting you ready for it in advance. When the timing keeps changing, it never gets the chance to learn, so the signals show up late, or early, or barely at all.
None of this hits you all at once, it's a slow accumulation. A little less sleep than you needed on Monday, a little less again on Thursday and it builds.
Your roster may be unpredictable but your wind-down routine doesn't have to be.
Melatonin is a hormone your body produces naturally to signal that it's time to get ready for sleep. It's closely tied to your circadian rhythm, the internal clock that runs on the day and night cycle. That's why it's such a common supplement for people who have trouble sleeping.
The problem is that melatonin often gets used to try and fix issues that run deeper than an inconsistent routine, like chronic insomnia, stress or some sleep disorders. That's one reason why so many people find it doesn't work for them.
Your situation is different. A constantly rotating roster means your body never gets the chance to settle into a routine. Melatonin can help create the missing signal that tells your body to start winding down and get ready for rest. But how you take it matters just as much.
Meet Kovera.
Sleep Support Built Around Your Roster.
How the patch works Kovera uses transdermal patches to carry ingredients through the skin. When applied this way, the ingredients are absorbed steadily rather than passing through your digestive system in one concentrated wave the way a pill or gummy does. Each patch is designed to release gradually and steadily across the night, supporting a wind-down that doesn't rely on you remembering anything else. Simply peel, place, and leave it on through the night.
Designed for those with Inconsistent Routines.
Most sleep products were built for someone with a calm evening and a clear schedule. This wasn't.
Different formats work for different people. This one's just designed to be the easiest to actually use.

Working shifts
Can I use it to sleep during the day after a night shift?
That's the situation a lot of our customers are in. The patch isn't tied to a particular time of day, so you apply it 1-2 hours before the sleep you're actually going to get, whether that starts at 9pm or 9am.
Worth saying plainly: daytime sleep is harder for reasons a patch can't fix. Light and noise still matter. Blackout blinds and a cool room will do more for you than any supplement will, and Kovera is meant to sit alongside those rather than replace them.
Will I still wake up if I'm on call?
Kovera is designed for steady overnight wear rather than a single concentrated hit. The intention is to support your wind-down, not to knock you out, and most adults wake to their alarm and to noise around them as usual.
That said, everyone responds differently, and we're not going to promise you'll respond a particular way. If you're carrying a pager or on call for callouts, try your first patch on a night when you're not the one being called, so you know how your own body handles it before you rely on it.
My roster rotates. Do I use it every night or only some?
Some people use it every night for the consistency, since one thing staying the same helps when the schedule doesn't. Others save it for the nights they know are hardest, usually the first day sleep after a run of nights, or the flip back to days.
There's no rule here. Start with one patch on the nights that matter most to you and adjust from there.
Will I feel groggy heading into my next shift?
Kovera is designed for steady release across the night rather than a concentrated dose, and you remove the patch when you wake. Even so, experiences vary from person to person.
If your work involves driving, machinery, or anything where being slow off the mark matters, try your first patch on a day off. And if you ever feel drowsy or not fully alert, don't drive or operate equipment, the same as you would with any sleep product.
Getting started
When will I notice a difference?
Some people notice a calmer wind-down on the first night. For others it takes a few nights to find their rhythm. We'd suggest giving it five to seven sleeps before you decide, which is long enough to see how your body settles into it and short enough that you're not locked in.
If your roster rotates, try to include a mix of night sleeps and day sleeps in that stretch rather than judging it on one type alone.
How do I actually use it?
Peel one patch from the pouch and apply it to a clean, dry area with little or no hair. The upper arm, shoulder, inner wrist, or back all work well. Apply it around 1-2 hours before you plan to sleep, and remove it when you wake up. No water, no food timing, nothing else to remember.
Rotating the spot from one sleep to the next is a good habit and helps keep skin comfortable.
After applying the patch, it is recommended to avoid blue or even bright lights, foods and drinks, and any other physical activity that may prevent your body from properly winding down.
What if it doesn't work for me?
Everyone's body is different, and we'd rather you keep your money than keep a product you don't love. If Kovera isn't the right fit, reach out to our team within 30 nights of your order, even if the pack is open, and we'll refund you.
Safety & ingredients
What's actually in each patch?
Six ingredients you've likely seen before: magnesium, valerian root, hops extract, 5-HTP, melatonin, and L-tryptophan. We list the exact amounts above in the "What's inside" section. No proprietary blends, no hidden doses.
Is it safe if I take other medications?
Kovera contains 5-HTP, L-tryptophan, and melatonin. These ingredients work on pathways that can interact with certain prescription medications including antidepressants (SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs), some migraine medications, and other sleep aids. If you take any of these, please speak to your doctor before adding Kovera to your routine.
It's also not for anyone under 18. Always read the label and use only as directed.
Could the patch irritate my skin?
The adhesive is designed to be gentle and intended for overnight wear, but skin is individual. Some people with sensitive skin or adhesive allergies may notice mild redness where the patch sat.
If that happens, rotate the application site so the same patch of skin isn't used repeatedly. If irritation continues, stop using it. If you've reacted to plasters or adhesive bandages before, test on a small area first.
Experience the rest you've been missing.
You've read this far. Maybe that's a sign your rest deserves a little more thought. Try a pack. If it doesn't earn its place in your routine, we'll buy it back.
